Award-winning packaging craft, tuned to the North American shopper.

Plenty of studios make a beautiful package. Fewer have the international awards to prove the craft, and fewer still design for how the US and Canada actually buy. Tasarist Canada is built on both.

01

A studio packaging juries keep rewarding

Tasarist's work has earned 50+ international design awards since 2012, across packaging structure, graphics, redesign and retail. Not one lucky project; a repeatable standard.

  • Structure to shelf. Dieline, material and graphics designed together, not bolted on.
  • Category fluency. Food & beverage, personal care, home care, wellness, footwear.
  • Redesign discipline. Refreshing equity without throwing away recognition.
02

A native read on how North America decides

A pack that wins on a jury table still has to win on a Canadian or US shelf, under different eyes, rules and habits. Tasarist Canada designs for that reality from the first sketch.

  • Bilingual by design. EN/FR layouts and Canadian labelling realities planned in, not patched later.
  • Shelf & planogram truth. Read at arm's length, in the aisle, next to the competitor.
  • Cart & screen. Built to convert at the shelf and as a DTC / e-commerce unboxing.

Industrial & structural design

We design the object, not only the label on it.

Graphics decide whether a pack is noticed. Structure decides whether it is carried, opened, gripped, re-used and kept. Tasarist designs the container itself — the form, the mechanics, the way it behaves in a hand — and the studio’s juried awards include wins for exactly that work, not for the artwork on it.

Trigger-spray bottles designed for Bingo, shown unbranded as industrial design renders
Industrial design

Bingo — the trigger-spray bottle

Not a label on someone else’s bottle: the bottle. Volume, shoulder, grip and trigger drawn as one piece of hardware a hand uses wet, at arm’s length, several times a day. Shown unbranded here because that is what industrial design hands over — the container, before any graphics are applied to it.

Structural work runs through the rest of the portfolio too — MealBox’s two-part box, whose cover doubles as a table mat, took Gold across four international juries, and Arko Suncare’s raised side icons exist to give grip on hands that are oily or sandy.

Strategic Design™: from strategy to press.

One studio for the whole arc of a physical brand: the thinking, the identity, the package, and the production files that reach the printer.

Spend it where the choice happens.

Advertising rents attention somewhere else. The package is already there: on the shelf, in the hand, at the second a shopper chooses between you and the brand beside you.

An ad stops the day you stop paying for it. The pack keeps selling every time someone reaches the shelf.

The finish. Getting the design off the screen and onto the shelf, with the print craft and files that make it real, and the 3D visuals, photography and video that sell it before the first pallet ships.

Strategic Design™

Why do people get attached to some brands, and not others?

Every Tasarist project starts on that question. The answer is CBP, the Creative Branding Process: a method that reads the shopper and the consumer before it draws a line, then decides what the package has to do to win both.

Read sideways

01 Creative Branding Process

We start with the shopper, not the sketch.

Tasarist doesn't only weigh consumer understanding during strategic design development. It puts specific focus on the consumer-shopper too. Working from that hybrid nature, and from the trends shaping how they decide, is what fuels the approach we call CBP.

01

Category Dynamics

The codes the aisle already runs on, and the competitor set a new pack has to argue with.

02

Shopper Insight

How the decision actually gets made, standing in front of the shelf with seconds to spare.

03

Consumer Insight

What the product has to deliver once it is home, and what brings the same hand back.

The three inputs of the Creative Branding Process: category dynamics, shopper insight and consumer insight, each feeding the others Category Dynamics 01 Shopper Insight 02 Consumer Insight 03

02 Design Strategy

Two questions decide the whole design.

Shopper

How can we convince the shoppers?

Consumer

How can we provide benefit to the consumers?

One of the biggest challenges in the creative design process is understanding the consumer and the shopper, and reading the category codes correctly. We built a tool to answer both questions, and the main strategy the design rests on is set in this step. It is what gives a brand strategic direction where a conventional design approach gives it a look.

The Design Strategy tool was tested for over a year across different segments of the FMCG market. Tested for over a year across FMCG segments. Sales growth was registered in every case, at varying ratios, and in the Bingo Glass Cleaner Spray case at more than 165%.

03 Design Hierarchy

Three or four iconic elements. That is what makes a brand hard to copy.

The world's 200 most valuable brands combine three or four iconic brand elements within their brand, and building those in is what keeps a design from being easily copied or reproduced by competitors. We analyse the product across five basic elements, then set the hierarchy: which ones lead on the pack, and which ones support.

The five basic elements ranked in order: colour, taste, fragrance, brand, shape Color Taste Fragrance Brand Shape The five basic elements ranked in order: colour, taste, fragrance, brand, shape Color Taste Fragrance Brand Shape

04 Decision Direction

Five metres to be seen. One metre to be picked up.

This step is shaped by the strategy and the hierarchy that came before it. The aim is to walk a shopper toward the product and get it into their hands. The eye reads the category at five metres, the segment at three and the product itself at one, so we place the elements set in the hierarchy step with those distances in mind.

Tasarist Canada

Same method. North American shelf.

CBP was sharpened over a decade of Turkish, Eastern European and international retail, on shelves where one package has to carry several languages and several ideas of value at once. Tasarist Canada runs the same four steps for Canadian and US retail: bilingual labelling, planogram realities and the unboxing moment that DTC lives or dies on.

Creative Branding Process
  1. Inputs
  2. Design Strategy
  3. Design Hierarchy
  4. Decision Direction

Canada is many cultures now. Sell to it with creatives who design packaging for every culture.

For more than a decade we have designed for Eastern European and Middle Eastern shelves, cultures where a single package has to carry different languages, rituals and ideas of value. We bring that same cultural fluency to North American retail, DTC and e-commerce.

Design

Built for the shelf it lives on

Packaging shaped to each market’s retail conventions, scripts and multilingual labelling, so it reads as native the moment it lands on the shelf.

Consumer habits

How each culture actually buys

An insider read on how families across Eastern Europe and the Middle East compare, trust and choose. Those everyday habits are what decide the sale.

Aesthetics

Beauty that reads as local

The colour, ornament and restraint each culture responds to, so a product feels designed for its people rather than translated for them.
